Cathy Volpe

Cathy Volpe was an outstanding athlete who was the first girl from North Branford High School to ever attain the distinction of be named as an All-State Player. She was first recognized for this honor as a basketball player in her senior year. She was captain of the basketball team and was also named as a member of All-Shoreline First Team and received the team Most Valuable Player Award and was honored by the NHSACA as an All-American as well. As a track and field athlete, Cathy was also named as an All-State Player. She set school records for the high jump (5’2”), and the 80-yard hurdles as well as for the pentathlon. She was the state champion in the high jump as a junior and finished 2nd in the pentathlon in New England Regional Meet. In her senior year, Cathy placed first in the high jump in the Shoreline Conference as well as in the State Championship. She was then selected to travel to Jamaica to compete in the Friendship Games where she finished 2nd in the high jump and 100 M hurdles. The North Branford High School Athletic Hall of Fame is proud and pleased to induct Cathy Volpe as a member on July 10, 2011.
